Protecting Those We Love & Serve Means Stepping Away For Now
The novel coronavirus COVID-19 has become the most disruptive communicable disease of our lifetimes. It poses particular dangers to individuals age 60 and above – the very people God called us to serve here at Silvercrest at Deer Creek. Out of concern for residents, Silvercrest, like other senior living centers in the greater Kansas City and throughout the nation, adopted stringent precautions to minimize risk to residents in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Among these measures is a no visitor policy, including family.
What this means: BVCC is suspending all ministry, mission and chaplaincy functions within the facility until further notice. We will continue to worship, be in community, participate in mission projects and plan for expanding our much needed chaplaincy. Beginning Sunday, March 21, Pastor Lois will begin a Facebook Live Worship at 9:30 a.m., our regular worship time. The experimental service will include meditation, scripture, prayer, sermon and communion. Participants may want to prepare in advance for partaking communion in the comfort of their home or wherever they may be. Communion is a symbolic, yet sacred act that can use any element, be it wine and bread, juice and wafers, even coffee and cake. Can't make it at 9:30. The video will remain on our Facebook Page
